Everyone is welcome to take part in a new singing experience at St Mark’s Church in Worsley.
The church on Worsley Brow is holding a ‘Come & Sing’ event on Saturday 21 May 2016 and is inviting SalfordOnline.com readers to take part.
100 people will sing Vivaldi’s Gloria, an outstandingly popular piece of music.
The event is being held to raise awareness and funds for Genesis Breast Cancer Prevention and for a donation of just £10, anyone can take part.
“I want everyone to feel welcome to join in and experience singing Vivaldi’s Gloria.
“It doesn’t matter whether you’re part of a choir or ever have been,” said Jeff Ramsdale, the organist and choirmaster at St Mark’s.
Dating from the early 18th century, Gloria is one of the lighter pieces for choirs and soloists.
It contains memorable classical lines and themes you may already know, without knowing where it is from.
You will be invited to attend the rehearsal in the morning (10.30-12.30), take a break for lunch, and then have an afternoon rehearsal (1.30-3.30).
The performance will take place at the church at 5pm for friends and family to enjoy.
1 in 10 women and 1 in 1000 men will develop breast cancer during their lifetime and this year Genesis UK celebrates 20 years of raising funds for research to prevent it in future generations.
If you would like to ‘Come and Sing’ at St Mark’s please e-mail Jeff (jramsdale@hotmail.com) to reserve a place, places are not limited but the church can only provide copies of Vivaldi’s Gloria to the first 100 singers who register.
