Salford doorstep shooting: Two, 19 and 47, bailed after attempted murder arrests


Two men have been bailed after a man was shot with a shotgun on his front doorstep in Ellesmere Park, Salford.

The 19-year-old and the 47-year-old were arrested on Monday morning on suspicion of attempted murder.

The 21-year-old victim was rushed to hospital under armed guard after being shot in the arm in the attack.

His injuries were described as “serious, but not life-threatening”.

He was hit by a shotgun blast in the upper arm after answering the door to unidentified men late on Sunday 20 March.

Armed officers sealed off Marlborough Road in Ellesmere Park at 9pm on Sunday evening.

The Park Road side of Marlborough Road was taped off all night and no pedestrians or cars were being allowed through.

Local residents told SalfordOnline.com how shocked they were at the attack, which happened in a normally quiet residential area.

Police Crime Scene Investigators swept the scene for clues, remaining on Marlborough Road until around 9am on Monday morning.

After questioning on suspicion of attempted murder, police have now released the arrested men on bail to reappear on Monday 16 May.

No one else has been arrested.
