A Salford cheerleading group who have missed out on international competitions because they can’t afford the air fares are asking for help taking their award-winning routines overseas.
The senior team at Pure Dance Workz studio in Salford, Pure Poison, have won the right to represent the UK in the 2016 European Cheerleading Championships in July.
It’s a prestigious cheerleading competition with groups across the world taking part.
Coach Abbie Salt, 24, has been competing since the age of 13 but struck out on her own to set up Pure Dance Workz in 2012.
“We started off with one senior team, Pure Poison, and one junior team, Pure Nemesis, but as more dancers came through over the next two months we created a mini and youth team as well.
The group train Mondays through Wednesdays at the De La Salle Social Club off Lancaster Road in Salford.
Abbie said: “The girls are aged between 15-25 and work so hard and enjoy every second they dance.
“I know all the girls would appreciate all the help they can get, please help us get to Slovenia to not only represent the UK but Salford.”
The group are looking for a local company to sponsor them and enable them to get a new team kit to wear whilst travelling abroad, while asking for donations from the local community to help with travel expenses.
The cheerleading group will wear their sponsor’s logo on their new kit.
Abbie told SalfordOnline.com: “We were invited to compete in Croatia last year, but we couldn’t afford to go.
“We’ve never competed abroad as a group before, so this is really important to us.”
If you would like to help get the group to the Championships you can donate via their GoFundMe page or contact Abbie directly at abbie_salt@hotmail.co.uk.
