Sounds of Salford raises £2.5k at charity event

Sounds of Salford radio show held a charity evening at St Bonifaces Social Club on Saturday, 2 April, 2016 in aid of Shelter for Forces and managed to raise a stagering £2,500 and the money is still coming in.

We spoke to one of the organisers Simon Williams who told us:

“It was a fantastic evening, we sold every ticket and could have easily got more people in, we are seriously considering looking for a bigger venue for our next event.

“The people of Salford responded magnificently and they are truly the salt of the earth and I can’t thank them enough for their generous donations.

“An ex-serviceman, Chris Eddison from Langworthy bought two signed Manchester United shirts in the auction and paid £720, he then rounded it off to a £1,000 which I think is amazing, a true gent.

“I would like to thank all of the presenters from Sounds of Salford who helped out on the night, Coey and Dennis, the DJ Ian Archer and Cinnamon Dinner who played a great set and everybody who kindly donated items for the auction.

“I have said it before the people of Salford never fail to amaze me with their generosity and once again they have proved me correct”

Shelter for Forces helps get homeless ex service personnel off the streets, and they aim to provide a half way house for them to change there clothes have a hot meal, a bed for a few nights, help rehabilitate them back into civilian life.
