Flood-hit Mocha Parade GP wins ‘Good’ CQC rating

One of the worst-hit business in the Salford 2015 Boxing Day floods is celebrating after scoring a ‘Good’ rating from the Care Quality Commission.

Mocha Parade Medical Practice in Lower Broughton sits right beside the River Irwell, which burst its banks at Christmas and caused severe flood damage to 400 local homes and shops.

Inspectors visited the neighbourhood GP in February and found it was ‘Good’ across the board.

It ticked all the boxes for being named safe, effective caring, responsive and well-led.

Its care for older people, families, children and young people, vulnerable people, those with dementia and mental health issues was also rated ‘Good’.

The practice serves 2,351 patients in the Salford and Lower Broughton area.

It has two GPs, although one is on long-term leave.

According to patient surveys, 86% would recommend the practice to someone who had just moved to the area.

Inspectors found few issues with Mocha Parade GP, saying it could be improved by making sure curtains were available in all surgeries for privacy.

Practice manager Patrick Murphy told SalfordOnline.com: “Our Practice is extremely proud of the ‘good’ rating following our recent CQC inspection.

“We achieved a rating of ‘good’ in all areas, and we feel that this is a reflection of the hard work and dedication of our whole practice team.

“The recent flooding in Salford affected our practice, but despite this we still managed to provide a full service to our patients, and again, we feel that this shows our commitment to providing a caring, compassionate and effective service for all of our patients.”
