Police thank public after man is charged with rape but two others are still wanted


Police thank public for overwhelming response following the rape of a woman in Bolton.

A 35-year-old man has since been charged with rape but police are still searching for another two men in connection with the attack.

At around 9:40pm on Saturday 2 April 2016, police were called to St. Peters Way, Bolton, following reports that a woman was lying in the carriageway.

On attendance, officers found a 29-year-old woman in the road who reported that she had been raped and assaulted.
Police investigating this attack are still looking for two men.

The first offender may have been mixed race with olive skin and was around 5ft 6in tall. He was aged in his mid-thirties and had a bald head with dark hair around the back and sides. He was wearing a white jacket, blue jeans and spoke with a Polish accent. This offender has a distinctive tattoo on either side of his neck.

The second man was white, around 5ft 8in tall, medium build and had a dark hair style with braids. This offender was aged in his mid-thirties and also spoke with a Polish accent. He was wearing a quarter length peg coat and a blue checked flat cap.

Detective Inspector Damian Simpson from GMP’s serious sexual offences unit said:
“I would like to thank the public for their overwhelming response to our appeal and as a direct result of their assistance, we have now arrested, charged and remanded one of the offenders.

“Two of the men we want to speak with remain at large and I would urge the public to continue to assist with this investigation and come forward with any information relating to these individuals.

“If anyone has any information, no matter how small or insignificant they think it may be, please get in touch with police at GMP’s serious sexual offences unit on 0161 856 1911”.
