One week to go to register to vote in Salford

Salford City Council is reminding residents there is just one week left to register to vote.

Those not on the electoral register by midnight on Monday 18 April will not get the chance to have their say.

On Thursday 5 May the polls will open for the local elections and City Mayor election in Salford.

Jim Taylor, Returning Officer for Salford City Council, said: “There is only one week to make sure you are registered to vote in these important elections in May.

“All you have to do is visit www.gov.uk/register-to-vote and provide your date of birth and National Insurance number to confirm your identity. It is a quick and simple five minute process.

“Make sure your voice is heard.”

On Friday it was announced that four candidates are standing for the City Mayor election.

105 candidates will stand in the local election. In Little Hulton, voters will choose two candidates.

People who are eligible to vote in Little Hulton will use one ballot paper to vote for the two candidates – one of which is an ordinary vacancy and one in place of Councillor Burgoyne.
