Salford children learn Chinese art techniques

Children from Branwood Preparatory School, in Salford, invited internationally renowned Chinese Artist, Mr La, to their Chinese Art Workshop.

Mr La with the help of parent Mrs Kirkham, taught the children his ink blowing painting technique to create unique patterns and abstract art pieces.

The school was also gifted with a specially painted Monkey by Mr La to celebrate the recent Chinese New Year and the year of the monkey.

Mr La has previously won a Chinese-Overseas Award which he received during a trip to Beijing for both his calligraphy work and paintings.

Head Teacher, Mrs Kate Follett, said: “It’s great to have an expert in the arts to teach the children about different techniques and cultures. We hope that the workshop inspires them to use new methods like ink blowing to create their own artistic pieces.”

Parent, Mrs Kirkham, said: “I’m very impressed by the childrens’ creativity and enthusiasm. It was an absolute pleasure to be joined by Mr La and help the children do Chinese painting.”

Branwood Preparatory School, on Stafford Road in Monton is a wonderful primary school in the heart of Ellesmere Park and has been preparing children for entrance exams to the finest secondary schools in the Greater Manchester area for 85 years.
