Beechfield United Under 15’s Predators suffered a major setback in their quest to become JFC Sports Division champions when they lost 2-1 at home to Hough End Griffins.
In the Tameside Football League United’s overall performance was less than impressive and though Beechy conceded the opening goal Dylan Durose equalised to make it 1-1 at half time. Hough End Griffins were the better team throughout the second half and eventually secured a deserved victory.
At Duchy Road Playing Fields the Under 14’s Storm were in action in the Salford and Districts League and celebrated a 3-1 win over Swinton Reds. Reese Rowlands was Man of the Match and goalscorers for Beechy in this Division 1 encounter were Tyler Davies, Aaron Gartley and Tom Bates.
The Under 13’s Tornadoes were away to Old Stretfordians who could only field ten players so sportingly Beechy played throughout with just ten players.
On a small and uneven pitch there was limited room to play slick passing football but the Tornadoes took the lead on the quarter-hour mark. Jeanny Le Blanc produced a surging run and after creating the perfect angle hammered the ball past a stranded keeper but United struggled to retain possession and Old Stretfordians drew level following a goal kick then the home team went 2-1 up just before the break.
Though the Tornadoes failed to play to their strengths they equalised via Charlie Ryan then Jeanny Le Blanc scored again and Beechy led 3-2. Three minutes from the end a mistake by United’s stand-in keeper gifted Old Stretfordians their third goal but there was still time for the Tornadoes to snatch a match winning goal. Jeanny Le Blanc was fouled on the edge of the area and Charlie Ryan blasted home the free kick to earn United a 4-3 victory they probably didn’t deserve.
Beechy Under 12’s Storm (9v9) lost their unbeaten Division 1 record following a 2-1 home defeat by De La Salle Devils. This top of the table clash was evenly balanced with both teams contributing to a scrappy opening period but once the players found their form it turned out to be a very good game of football.
The Storm went ahead via George Moorhouse who produced a great finish from twenty five yards but United’s lead was short lived because De La Salle equalised following a well-executed free kick. In a fast and furious second half an effort by Keiron Robinson rattled the crossbar and both keepers were heavily involved especially James O’Donnell who received the Storm’s Best Player award. With minutes remaining the De La Salle keeper produced a superb save to deny Bobby Anderson the chance of an equaliser.
Away to Moston Stripes the Under 11’s Thunder (9v9) were involved in a highly entertaining game that featured two overworked goalkeepers. Beechy opened the scoring with a neatly worked and superbly taken goal by birthday boy Jacob Lacey.
Moston Stripes found an equaliser but United soon regained the lead courtesy of Jake O’Sullivan then Taonga Mututa got in on the act skilfully dribbling the ball past three opponents before producing a tidy finish. The rest of the match was end to end with Moston adding further goals while Beechy secured a deserved victory thanks to a couple of goals from Samuel Oludoyi.
A satisfactory performance by the Under 11’s Tornadoes (9v9) in their Development Group Green match with De La Salle Reds went unrewarded. There was an improved display from the Beechy lads who’s consolation goal was scored by Patrick Walsh while Tom Williams was voted the team’s Best Player.
There was a Sunday fixture for the Under 11’s Storm (9v9) who met Manchester Maccabi Galaxy at Beech Farm Playing Fields. This Development Group Blue encounter included seven goals and on target for United were Joe Newton, Damion Broughton and Adam Rothwell. Named Star Player was Ben Howard.
Producing another first-class and high scoring performance were the Under 10’s Tornadoes who were at home to AFC Monton Dynamos. Harley Davidson, Kaiden McClean, Harley Kirk, Charlie Mulvenna and Oliver Lomas got the goals for the Tornadoes who hit double figures. Collecting the Best Player award was Adam Wood.
Tawonga Chirwa received the Under 10’s Storm’s Man of the Match award following the Development Group Green away game with Ladybridge Leopards. On a 3G AstroTurf pitch the first half ended goalless but despite playing some great football Beechy conceded two goals and lost the match.
In the Under 9’s Development Group Yellow Division Beechy Lightning produced a decent display in an eleven goal thriller. Charlie Harris with a hat-trick and Aaron Worthington fired in the goals for United who gave their Man of the Match accolade to Liam Peers.
Also in the Development Group Yellow Division the Under 9’s Typhoon had the best moments of the first half of their away game at Flixton Dragons. Milonga Mututa gave Beechy the lead, goalkeeper Peter Ellis made some great saves and Harry Bentley put in a Star Player performance at the heart of the defence.
Creating an outstanding all-round display were Beechy Under 9’s Hurricanes who’s accurate passing of the ball was the highlight of this Development Group Purple fixture. Georgi Georgiev, Man of the Match Oliver Coles, Ben Morris, Dominic and Harley Mullen were the goalscorers as the Hurricanes reached double figures.
Playing away at Parkwyddn Predators the Under 9’s Storm produced their best performance so far this season. Against their excellent opponents United were denied several goals when three efforts hit both post and crossbar plus there were two goal line clearances by Parkwyddn defenders. Every boy played their part with particularly good performances from James Wharton and Man of the Match Caden Gibson.
Goals from Man of the Match Brett McWilliams, Jayden Walker, Ashley Tonge and Owen Bolton were just reward for the Under 8’s Hurricanes who were in great form in their Development Group Yellow away game with Manchester Maccabi Falcons.
Booking their place in the Supplementary Tournament Red cup final were the Under 8’s Tornadoes.
In a hard fought victory over Flixton Dynamos the Tornadoes made a slow start and found themselves two goals down. It took a spectacular free kick by Joel Thorndyke to get Beechy a foothold in the game but somehow United conceded again before half time.
Producing a positive fight back the Tornadoes won a penalty after a foul on Joshua Taylor who netted the resulting spot-kick. Beechy took control of the match and another goal by Joshua Taylor eventually guaranteed the Tornadoes a place in the final. Freddie Wardle collected the Man of the Match Award.
Leading goalscorer Kylan Twigg and Scott Craven fired in the goals for the Under 7’s Storm who met Barr Hill Diamonds. This Development Group Yellow match was a low scoring affair and voted the Storm’s Best Player was Lucas Harris.
In a superb all-round display the Under 7’s Tornadoes hit top form in their Development Group Yellow home game against Barr Hill Aces. The goals were shared by Fletcher Jackson, Blake Kerrigan, Harvey Riva and Man of the Match Reece Cartwright.
The Under 7’s Hurricanes entertained AFC Monton Monsters in the Development Group Red Division at Beech Farm. Man of the Match was Daniel Robinson while goals for Beechy came courtesy of Lexi Hiles and Lloyd Hiles.
