Man’s body found in water at Salford Quays

Police are investigating after a man’s body was found in water at Salford Quays.

Shortly before 1pm today the body of a man was discovered in the water near the Salford Watersports Centre.

His body was recovered from the water by Greater Manchester Fire crews along with police.

A stretch of walkway is cordoned off along the Manchester Ship Canal, behind the Lowry Outlet Mall car park.

Two fire engines, two Rapid Response Vehicles, and ambulance and six police cars are currently at the scene.

In a statement a Greater Manchester Police spokesperson said: “Shortly before 1pm on Saturday 6 June police were called to Salford Quays to reports of a body in the water.

“An investigation has been launched into the circumstances around this and enquiries are ongoing.”
