Police are appealing for witnesses after a man threatened a driver with a gun.
At about 3.40pm on Friday 15 April 2016 a 22-year-old man was driving his car on Mancunian Way and, as he got to the Cambridge Street junction roundabout he became aware of another car trying to get through.
There wasn’t enough room, so the man continued straight on and was stopped in traffic turning left onto Princess Parkway when the driver of the other car got out and approached the victim.
The offender tried to hit the man and then lifted his top to reveal a small black gun stuck into the front of his trousers waistband.
He threatened the man and pulled the firearm out slightly, before getting back into his car and driving away towards the Medlock Street junction roundabout.
Police are appealing for witnesses to the incident to come forward.
The man is described as mixed race, 40–50 years old, 6ft tall, stocky build, and was wearing a navy woollen hat, blue tracksuit bottoms, and a black Adidas jacket.
The car he was driving was described as an ‘old style’ navy blue Vauxhall Vectra.
Detective Constable Clara Williams of GMP’s South Manchester division said: “It is appalling that an innocent man was threatened with a gun, as he was just going about his business.
“Weapons like these cause misery in our communities and we will not tolerate such violence on our streets. We have launched an investigation to catch the offender and I appeal to anyone with information to get in touch.
“You may have been in the traffic in your car during the incident and may not have realised what was happening. I would urge you to come forward as any piece of information you have, no matter how small, may help us to trace this man.”
