Salford Quays Unlocked book competition winners

Last week SalfordOnline.com ran a competition in which two lucky readers could win a copy of the brand new publication, Salford Quays Unlocked, a book of poems and photographs which takes the reader on a historical journey of the Manchester Ship Canal by Lynn Pegler and photographer Mike Poloway

We asked you this simple question:

In which year did Queen Victoria officially open the Manchester Ship Canal?

The answer was of course, May, 1894.

As expected we had loads of entries and sadly one or two of them wrong!

However the first two names out of our fabled lucky hat were, Nigel Hawkins and David Stretch.

Nigel who actually lives on Salford Quays called into our office to pick up his prize and told us of his joy at winning.

“This is a great prize to win and to be honest I was going to buy it this weekend.

“My daughter is a teacher and we had planned to take the grandkids around the docks area this weekend to show them their heritage and this book will be the ideal read for them and all the family”

The other winner David Stretch is on holiday in Spain and he will pick his book up when he returns, the lucky chap.

So if you weren’t lucky on this occassion please keep reading the site as we have lots more competitions coming up in the near future.
