A driver who crashed through a garden wall in Eccles this morning is thought to have suffered some kind of medical episode at the wheel.
He was trapped inside the car and had to be removed by local firefighters.
Three police cars, a fire engine from Eccles and a road ambulance were called to Trafford Road, near the junction with Gleaves Road, at 7.55am this morning.
They found a silver BMW 120d wedged in the brickwork of the garden wall, with damage to the front right side of the car.
The driver, who is in his mid-20s, was stuck in the car for around 15 minutes before firefighters arrived to extricate him from the vehicle.
There are not thought to have been any other vehicles involved but police are still taking statements and investigating the circumstances.
Officers blocked off the roadway for around an hour but it has since re-opened and traffic is moving smoothly.
The driver was taken by ambulance to Salford Royal hospital for assessment.
His injuries are considered to be minor, police say.
Anyone who witnessed the incident is asked to call Greater Manchester Police on 101.
