The Force – Manchester

Following officers and staff from across the Force as they work to keep Greater Manchester safe, The Force: Manchester returns for a new 10-part series to give further insight into the crimes and incidents dealt with every day.

From cyber crime to cannabis factories, public protection to police pursuits, officers are facing increasingly complex crimes and this unique access-all-areas documentary illustrates the work involved in solving them.

PCs Simon Gardner and Sam Davies, two of the officers featured in the previous series, are joined in these new episodes by more officers from across GMP, including PC Alex Woodhead and PC Kate Johnson, as they investigate assaults, burglaries and drink drivers.

Chief Constable Ian Hopkins said: “We had overwhelmingly positive feedback to the first series and people recognised the hard work and commitment of the officers and staff who took part. The second series continues to show the challenges they face every day. We receive around 3,000 calls a day from people asking for help across Greater Manchester.

“The programme has shown why we need to continue to transform policing in Greater Manchester and to work in new ways with both our partners and local people. We took part in the documentary as part of continued efforts to give people an insight into Greater Manchester Police, the challenges and the future.”
The Force: Manchester was filmed from January to June 2015 and achieved an average of 180,000 viewers per episode for its first series. It is produced by Shine TV, part of Endemol Shine Group.
