Darren Proctor to host Breast Cancer Now’s annual Pink Ribbon Ball Manchester, with double Brit-award winner Lemar to headline
On Saturday 14th May 2016, Breast Cancer Now will celebrate the second annual Pink Ribbon Ball Manchester.
Returning to the stunning Manchester Cathedral, the event will raise vital funds for Breast Cancer Now’s life-saving research into the disease.
This year’s magnificent event will be hosted by “the voice of Cheshire”, local DJ Darren Proctor and guests will be treated to an evening of entertainment by electric string trio the Vibellos, a DJ set by Darren Proctor himself and a special headline performance by double Brit-award winner Lemar.
Multi-platinum selling Lemar will perform a mix of old and new hits, as well as a version of his brand new single “Someday We’ll Be Together”, recorded with Joss Stone, which will be released on 13th May.
As well as the spectacular performances, the star-studded event will include a very special guest speaker, a sumptuous three course dinner served by Harvey Nichols and a live and silent auction, with prizes to include; original colour lithographs by Pablo Picasso, Henri Matisse and Salvador Dali, concert tickets to see Rod Stewart, The Stone Roses, Bruce Springsteen and James Bay, photo with the stars of Manchester City FC, sparring session with boxing champion Scott Fitzgerald and a private dinner with celebrity chef Tom Whitaker.
Headline act, Lemar, said: “It’s an honour to be asked to perform at the Pink Ribbon Ball in Manchester for Breast Cancer Now. My mum was affected by breast cancer so it’s a cause very close to my heart. Events like this is are so important to ensure research into this devastating disease can continue, and I’m very proud to be involved.
“It’s not every day you get to perform in such a beautiful venue – Manchester Cathedral is stunning and the event is going to be a lot of fun!”
Darren Proctor, who will host and DJ the evening, said: “I’m thrilled to be hosting the Pink Ribbon Ball in Manchester for Breast Cancer Now; last year was absolutely brilliant and it’s a special event to be part of. The funds raised at the Ball will help Breast Cancer Now fund vital research into this awful disease and I’m happy to supporting such an important cause.”
Also taking centre stage at the event will be very special guest speaker, Charley Wood, 27, from Manchester, who has the BRCA1 gene which gives carriers an 85 per cent chance of developing breast cancer. Charley had a double mastectomy in 2015 and hopes to raise important awareness by speaking about her experience.
Charley Wood, guest speaker at the event said: “I’m honoured to have been asked to speak at the Pink Ribbon Ball Manchester. I know first-hand how essential breast cancer research is and how it can save lives, so I hope the event raises lots of money for even more research into the disease.”
With a heritage of 21 years hosted in London, the inaugural Pink Ribbon Ball Manchester was held in 2015, raising an incredible £110,000. Following on from last year’s successful event, the second Pink Ribbon Ball Manchester will aim to raise £120,000 to enable Breast Cancer Now to help save more lives through research.
