Worsley resident and Abbey College Manchester student Thomas Warn was presented with a prestigious award at a ceremony held at the Iconic Manchester Town Hall on Wednesday 4 May.
Thomas, 19, of Bridgefoot Close, received the much coveted Attainment Award for high academic attainment across all the faculties in the college.
The event was a celebration of the accomplishments of the students due to graduate this summer and to look back on various highlights throughout the year. Awards were then given to those individuals who made some outstanding achievements in the academic year.
Guest of honour Graham Able, the Deputy Chairman of the Alpha Plus Group joined the celebrations and presented the awards and certificates. The legendary Abbey College Manchester band also provided some excellent entertainment with a variety of stunning vocals and instrumental performances.
The A-Level Biology, Chemistry and Physics student was presented with the award in front of 180 of his peers, staff and parents.
Thomas, who has offers to study Microbiology at the University of Manchester and the University of Liverpool, commented: “My time at Abbey College Manchester has been invaluable and I cannot thank the staff here enough for helping me achieve this level in my studies. I will miss the college but I am excited for what the future will bring.”
Principal Liz Elam said: “Thomas is a highly intelligent individual who truly deserves this Attainment Award. He works incredibly hard and it has paid off.
“I was so pleased so many people came to the event because it was a time to come together and celebrate the hard work and achievements of the students. It was a special night and I wish the class of 2016 the best of luck.”
