Top 5 things to do in Salford this weekend


The weather forecast for the weekend is sunny weather so why not get outdoors and make the most of it, we all know it won’t last.

Here are our five suggestions for things to do this weekend in Salford.

Bridgewater Bat Walk – Friday 13 May – 8pm – 10pm

Join these night time bat walks along the Bridgewater Canal from Monton to Worsley and use a bat detector to hear the sounds they make whilst hunting for insects.

Please bring a torch. This is a canal side walk and children must be accompanied by an adult.

Distance: 3.5 miles
Meeting point: Old Fold Park, entrance to the Bridgewater Canal, Parrin Lane, Monton
Free admission.

Tree Goblin Hunt – Saturday 14 May – 10.30am -12.00pm

Try something different this Saturday, join Professor Jigget, the expert goblin hunter and tree explorer, to find tree goblins around Green Grosvenor Park, Broughton. After the goblin hunt, you’ll make clay tree boggarts.

Suitable for children under 12 years. All materials to make a boggart supplied.

H20 Fun Day – Saturday 14 May – 10am – 4pm

Call in at Dock 9 at Salford Quays for a day of fun with GMP as they learn you about water safety, there will be rescue boats, learn first aid, and meet Constable Cub.

Methuselah Concert and Dance – Saturday 14 May – 7.30pm -11pm

Visit the magnificently refurbished Eccles Town Hall for an evening of live music from three piece band Methuselah, playing music from the 50s, 60s & 70s.

Admission £6 on door.

Chipperfield Circus – Saturday 14 May – 1pm – 9pm

All the thrills of the big top as the world famous Chipperfield circus rolls into town and perfoms at the A.J. Bell Stadium.
