The driver of the Megane that hit Alan did not stop at the scene.

He has since been released on bail pending further enquiries.

The car was found by police dumped on Dalton Drive in Pendlebury.

Police are continuing their investigation and are appealing for witnesses who may have seen the incident to get in touch.

Alan’s family said: “Alan was a loved son to Norma and the late Norman.

“He was kind and generous especially to those in need.
