Appeal to identify two men in connection with an assault in the city centre

Officers are trying to identify two men in connection with an assault in the city centre.

At around 6.30am on Friday 8 April 2016 a man was assaulted outside the Seven Oaks Public House, Nicholas Street.

Police are keen to speak to two men who were outside the pub at the time of the assault.

The two suspected offenders were ejected from the pub after a verbal drunken argument inside, at the time the victim was waiting patiently to enter the premises.

One of the men is described as white with short dark hair. He was wearing a navy blue jacket.

The other man is described as white, of a chubby build and was wearing a khaki coloured coat with a burgundy top beneath.

PC Pippa Fairclough, of Manchester City Centre borough, said: “The man who was assaulted was waiting patiently to gain entry to the pub at the time of the attack. Fortunately, he did not suffer serious physical injuries but the psychological effect from the ordeal may stay with him for a very long time.

“If anyone recognises either or both of the two men pictured, they should get in touch.”
