Crowbar gang carry out armed robbery on Salford Spar

Three men burst into a shop in Salford and stole cash while threatening staff with crowbars.

The armed robbery happened on Seaford Road at around 9.10pm on Monday 23 May.

They approached the counter and forced open four tills in the store before stealing a quantity of cash and cigarettes.

The trio then left the store and got into a black Volkswagen Golf which was driven away by a fourth man who had been waiting outside throughout the robbery.

The car was seen driving along Seaford Road before turning left onto Frederick Road.

The offenders are all described as white men in the early 20s wearing full face balaclavas, black jackets and grey jogging bottoms.

They spoke with local accents and were carrying orange crowbars.

Last week two masked men carrying crowbars forced their way into Sainsbury’s Local store in Salford and stole cash. Sources told SalfordOnline.com the armed robbers had pulled up outside in a black Volkswagen Golf.

Police have not explicitly linked the two robberies.

At around 8.50pm on Wednesday 18 May two men in a black Volkswagen Golf pulled up outside the former White Horse pub on Gilda Brook Road.

They were dressed in black, with balaclavas covering their faces and armed with a crowbar each, police said.

Detective Constable Andrew Quinn of GMP’s Salford Borough said: “This robbery took place when the shop was very busy and no doubt the very nature of the offense would have struck fear into all those inside.

“Such a serious offence should not be able to take place without those involved being held accountable and we would like to appeal to the public for their help.

“If you have seen this robbery take place or have seen the car that was involved in the nearby area just prior to or after the incident then please contact police.”
