Worsley Park Marriott Hotel & Country Club are preparing for a very special fitness event to whip local pooches, and their owners, into shape.
It’s all to raise money to build a new and safe place for local children in Roe Green to play.
Organisers are inviting guests to join a family friendly dog walk from Worsley Park Marriott Hotel & Country Club at 10am on Sunday 5th June.
After a canine-focused warm up, a 1 to 2-mile organised walk will depart from, and arrive back to, Worsley Park Marriott Hotel & Country Club where children will receive a small prize and everyone will be rejuvenated with hot refreshments.
It’s just £5 per family to take part, all of which will go directly to towards the redevelopment of the Roe Green Play Park.
Local dog owner from Worsley Chris Mullineux and his faithful companion Bella, joined the team at Worsley Park for an early warm up this week.
He said: “It’s not only going to be great fun, but will also help raise some vital funds for the new play park.
“We can’t wait and I know Bella, who had loads of fun at the warm up, is already itching to get back for the event.”
Roe Green Play Park is currently at risk of closure as the existing equipment is in urgent need of refurbishment to make it safe for children to play.
Local residents have therefore pulled together with the aim of raising £120,000 to give it a complete upgrade.
One of the local Roe Green campaign organisers, Dan Stribling, said; “We’ve been overwhelmed by the local backing for the campaign, but it will be thanks to people supporting events like this that will ultimately help us reach our total. We would encourage anyone with a dog, or those who just fancy a walk, to sign up and come down on Sunday the 5th for a really fun family event.”
