Beechfield United Under 15’s Predators ended a very successful 2015/2016 season in the Tameside Football League with a hat-trick of trophies.
United added the JFC Sports Division title to the Challenge Cup and League Cup with victory in their final league game. At Stott Lane the Predators met Youth Kicks who proved to be tough opposition and their spoiling tactics helped ruin the match.
It was 0-0 at half time but Beechy were always the better team and as the tension mounted the Predators made the vital breakthrough eight minutes from the end. After winning a penalty Brandon Kent took the spot-kick himself and put United ahead then George Davies scored a superb goal to make it 2-0 and after the final whistle the players and officials were able to celebrate because the Predators were champions on goal difference. Congratulations to Manager Gareth Kent, Assistant Martin McCarthy and all the players for making this marvellous achievement possible.
Beechy Under 14’s Storm played their penultimate Salford and Districts League Division 1 game when they met Deans Tigers away. Man of the Match Aaron Gartley and Tyler Davies fired in the goals for the Storm who suffered a 4-2 defeat.
The Challenge Cup final between the Under 13’s Tornadoes and Broughton Community was slightly spoiled by a smaller than usual pitch and the ball spent more time out of play than it did at the players feet. Chances in the first half were few and far between but the Tornadoes broke the deadlock via a superb volley from Ademola Olasanya.
Keeping the pressure on their opponents Beechy deserved to increase their lead but against the run of play Broughton Community equalised with the last kick of the half. Early in the second half Beechy failed to deal with a poor Broughton corner and went 2-1 down when the ball deflected off a Tornadoes defender and into the net. Committed to all-out attack United worked hard to get back level but Beechy conceded twice in the last ten minutes to make it 4-1 a winning score line that flattered Broughton Community. The Tornadoes Man of the Match was Joe Bardsley.
There was a dominant display from the Under 12’s Tornadoes (9v9) who had a Division 3 home game against neighbours Moorside Rangers Blue. Beech Farm was the venue for this evening fixture and United comfortably collected all three points courtesy of an 8-1 victory. Star Player was Joe Staley who scored six goals plus there was a goal apiece for Ellis Kenny and Shaun Heywood.
Playing away against AFC Monton Vipers the Under 12’s Storm (9v9) ended the season with a 1-0 defeat. George Moorhouse was Man of the Match for Beechy who finished as runners-up in the Division 1 table.
Completing their Development Group Green fixtures were the Under 11’s Tornadoes (9v9) who enjoyed a narrow victory over De La Salle Reds. Both goals for the Tornadoes were netted by Alan Kay while Brandon Wabayi was voted Man of the Match.
For their final game of the season the Under 11’s Thunder (9v9) travelled to play Fives Athletic. In control straight from the kick off Beechy created numerous chances and eventually took the lead. Gradually Fives Athletic became a greater threat going forward and United’s in-form goalkeeper Reiss Miller made a triple save to guarantee United were still ahead at the break.
Early in the second half Fives Athletic found an equaliser but Beechy were able to step up a gear and producing some superb quick passing moves were rewarded with three more goals. Another goal for Fives Athletic reduced the arrears but United remained in control and secured a well-deserved victory. Goalscorers were Samuel Oludoyi, Jake O’Sullivan and Harvey Walker.
The weather was just perfect for football when a depleted Under 10’s Tornadoes outfit faced a Winton Wanderers outfit for the second time in seven days. Beechy opened the scoring with a very good goal from Kaiden McClean following a fantastic pass by Harley Davidson. Winton Wanderers produced a positive response and equalised but the Tornadoes continued to play some great football with captain and Man of the Match Harley Kirk outstanding throughout. United kept control of the contest and in the second half added more goals with Kaiden McClean completing a fully deserved hat-trick.
In their friendly match with Bolton outfit Strikerz the Under 9’s Hurricanes found themselves two goals down. Ole Kerwin got a goal back controlling the ball with his chest following a corner and scoring via an acrobatic scissors kick.
The second half was just a minute old when the Hurricanes conceded a third goal but Beechy replied superbly and drew level thanks to two top-class goals from Ole Kerwin and Georgi Georgiev. United took the lead when Georgi Georgiev produced a brilliant finish but Strikerz equalised in the last minute.
Charlie Harris and David Olidoy scored the goals for the Under 9’s Lightning in their Development Group Green Division away game against Boothstown Clarets. Matthew Correy received the Best Player award.
Sharing eight goals with Prestwich Junior Buffalos were Beechy Under 7’s Storm. This Development Group Yellow Division match was a great advert for mini-soccer and on target with goals for the Storm were Man of the Match Scott Craven, Kylan Twigg, Lucas Harris and Matthew Cox.
