Shortly after 6.20am on Saturday 4 June 2016 police were alerted by hospital staff that a 25-year-old man had been taken to hospital after being stabbed in the neck. He is in a stable condition in hospital where he is being treated for a stab wound to the neck.
Officers believe he had been involved in a disturbance between approximately ten men, on Charles Street around 3.30am this morning.
An investigation has been launched and police are appealing for any witnesses to the incident to come forward.
Detective Sergeant Andrew Worthington of City of Manchester team said: “We have launched an investigation to piece together what happened in the early hours of this morning that has left a man seriously injured in hospital.
“We believe fighting broke out between a group of men a short time before the victim was taken to hospital.
“As this happened in the city centre there may have been a number of people around, perhaps going home after a night out, and I would urge them to please come forward and contact police if they saw what happened.
“I am asking for anyone that was in this area around the time of the incident, to please call us if you saw either of these groups of men, or if you saw the altercation itself.”
