Greater Manchester Police is set to welcome 70,000 people Manchester ahead of the annual Parklife music festival at Heaton Park.
On Saturday 11 June and Sunday 12 June 2016, festival goers from across the UK will enjoy the Parklife Weekender, with acts such as The Chemical Brothers and Bastille performing.
Superintendent Martin Greenhalgh of GMP’s Force Events Section, said: “We are looking forward to welcoming everyone to our city and wish them a safe and enjoyable weekend.
“GMP is working closely with Parklife, North West Ambulance Service, Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service, Bury Council, Manchester City Council, NHS Manchester and Transport for Greater Manchester to ensure the event runs smoothly and safely with as little disruption to everyday business as possible.
“The safety of everyone visiting the city this weekend is a priority for us and I’d encourage everyone to take steps to help prevent themselves from becoming a victim of crime or falling seriously ill.
“Keep your belongings with you at all times and your valuables hidden from sight. Stay alert and familiarise yourself with information inside the festival to ensure you have the best possible time.
“Finally, I’d like to remind people about the dangers that psychoactive substances pose. As we have seen all too recently, psychoactive substances like any drugs can have devastating effects and can be life-threatening.”
