Salford Choral Society Concert, Songs of Summer, Peel Hall, Salford University, 2 July 2016


An evening with Salford Choral Society of delightful music featuring three outstanding composers of the early 20th century. The programme will include From the Bavarian Highlands, inspired by a holiday Elgar and his wife Alice enjoyed in Garmisch in Upper Bavaria, Stanford’s Songs of the Fleet, full of salt sea air, and Vaughan Williams’ Five Mystical Songs, setting poems by George Herbert, plus solo items from Miles Horner and Roderick Barrand.

The bar will be open from 6.45 pm with pre-concert entertainment from Salford’s Music and Performing Arts Service (MAPAS) Saxophone Ensemble.
