At around 7.45pm on Friday 10 June 2016, police were called to Hope Street at the junction with Great Clowes Street, Lower Broughton to reports of two men fighting.
When they attended the scene, officers discovered 20-year-old Jakub Gorski (pictured) with a stab wound to his chest.
He was taken to Salford Royal Hospital, where he sadly died a short time later.
Three men, aged 26, 26 and 49, were arrested on suspicion of murder and have subsequently been bailed until 20th June 2016.
A fourth man, aged 28, has also been arrested on suspicion of murder and remains in police custody for questioning.
The investigation is on-going.
Detective Chief Inspector Terry Crompton said: “Jakub’s death has left a gaping hole in his family, who are understandably devastated by the loss of their young son and brother.”
“To lose a child in such violent circumstances must be incredibly difficult to come to terms with, and my officers and I offer our most sincere condolences to the Gorski family at this time.
“We are doing everything we can to ensure we bring those responsible for his untimely death to justice, and the public can assist us in this task.
“The attack happened while it was still light outside and there must be people who were in the area of Hope Street and Great Clowes Street who saw something out of the ordinary that night.
“Anyone with any information, no matter how insignificant it might seem, should come forward and help us identify who is responsible for this terrible crime.”
