Dance students at a dance school in Eccles are jumping for joy after being selected to represent England on the world stage.
Following nationwide auditions, 12 young enthusiasts from The Danceworks Ballet and Theatre School in Eccles will now be flying the flag for England at the 2016 Dance World Cup.
The competition will take place in Jersey at the end of June and will bring together 18,000 competitors from 38 countries across the world.
The successful students, who are aged between 9 and 15, compete as part of The Danceworks Team in dance events across the North West throughout the year.
They now have the opportunity to showcase their talents at international level and have even received support from Her Majesty The Queen.
As all the children participating in the World Cup have to fund their own trip, which includes kit, travel and accommodation, The Danceworks will be holding various fundraising events over the coming months.
Children have been offered an amazing opportunity to represent England and to walk out behind the England flag together with dancers from all over the world.
Sadly as dance is still not recogised as a sport, it is self-funded, meaning the children have to pay for all their travel costs accommodation, and an obligatory England tracksuit.
The team also has a Go Fund Me fundraising page set up to help them get to Jersey, off the coast of northern France.
Principal Genene Bowers said: “This is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for these children and we at The Danceworks feel their huge achievement should be celebrated.
“I am looking for support from the local community to get on board to help get them there. Any amount will be greatly appreciated,” she added.
