The Salford Red Devils are delighted to announce the signing of Sean Kenny from the Warrington Wolves with immediate effect.
The 21 year old, who plays at hooker has made a name for himself coming through the Warrington Under 19’s and a string of stand out performances for the academy side and Wolves reserves have revealed him as a hugely exciting young talent.
Kenny’s obvious potential has won the plaudits of Warrington Under 19’s coach and Super League Stalwart Lee Briers, who has described the player as a ‘shining light’, and the Warrington Head of Rugby Operations, Karl Fitzpatrick is pleased to see Sean take the next step in his career, he said;
“To see Sean gain a full-time Super League contract Is fantastic. This again highlights that some players may need a little longer than the age of 19 before being ready for Super League. Hopefully more clubs recognise this and buy into the reserve competition. Sean has been great for us and goes with our full blessing.”
Salford Red Devils Head Coach Ian Watson has long been an admirer of Kenny, and is delighted to see him sign with the club, saying;
“Sean is a player we’ve had our eye on for a while and it’s great that he’s signed for the Red Devils. He has shown great potential and shown that he is ready to step up to a Super League level. He is hugely ambitious and will fit in well with the squad we already have here at the club.”
Following the payment of a nominal fee, Kenny will be joining up with his new team mates this week and will be available for selection for upcoming game against the Castleford Tigers.
