Three from Salford arrested over viral tram race-hate attack

A 16-year-old boy and two men age 18 and 20 from Salford have been arrested after a shocking race-hate attack on a tram was captured on video this morning.

A clip of the attack taken by an anonymous commuter surfaced on Twitter and quickly went viral, being picked up by the Daily Mail, The Guardian, The Mirror, the Independent, and the Daily Express.

On the video, three men could be seen and heard shouting racist insults, intimidating passengers and drinking beer at 7.30am on Tuesday morning on a commuter tram heading from Oldham to Manchester city centre.

“All hate incidents are treated with the utmost severity and this behaviour will not be tolerated in Greater Manchester.”
