Gavin Backhouse, 39, formally of Tulley Street South, Higher Broughton, appeared at Manchester Crown yesterday, Wednesday 13 July, 2016 charged with Attempted Robbery and was sentenced to, two years imprisonment.
Backhouse approached the victim from behind and grabbed him around his neck, then pulled him to the ground.
He searched the victims pockets but was disturbed by a member of the public, he made good his escape, but was later detained by the police.
