Anyone got a spare warthog’s head?

Local award winning amateur theatre group Apeel Drama are on the lookout for a stuffed warthog’s head.

They are putting on a production of Inspector Drake and the Perfekt Crime by David Tristram. The warthog is an essential prop and is central to the storyline as it is mistaken early on for the missing wife of the genius Doctor Rupert Short.

Apeel are putting the play on as part of the 140th anniversary celebrations for St Paul Peel church. The production will take place from 22nd to 25th September.

Director Marc Lyth says “This is one of the funniest plays I’ve ever read, and I really think we’re going to do it justice. I’ve got a great cast to work with and we need the set and props to be just as good. We want all the details to be spot on, and that includes our warthog. It’s such an important part of the story that it has to be the best we can possibly get.”

Apeel Drama have been performing in St Paul Peel church hall for a few years. Actress Gillian Roberts, a regular with the group, won an award for best actress at the GMDF one act play festival two years ago in The Actor’s Nightmare. In Inspector Drake and the Perfekt Crime she is playing Sabrina Short, daughter of Rupert Short. Or is she?

All will be revealed if they can find that warthog.

If anyone has a spare warthog’s head they can lend to the group, please contact Marc on 07941905519.
