A bike rider weaving through the streets of Irlams o’th Height led police to a suspected drugs den in Salford.
Residents on Rothesay Road in Pendlebury told how police and Crime Scene Investigation teams arrived on Saturday morning, 16 July, and spent over 48 hours searching a house on the street.
A crime scene tent was erected in the middle of the street, and parts of the road were taped off by officers while they conducted their investigation.
Inside the address was “a quantity of controlled substances”, said police.
Early on Saturday morning, traffic officers were on Bolton Road in Irlams o’th Height.
At around 3.15am they stopped a motorbike which was reportedly “driving suspiciously” along Bolton Road.
The rider, a 51-year-old man, was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence of drugs, as well as possession with intent to supply a controlled substance.
Their discovery on Bolton Road led police to a house on Rothesay Road, just behind the Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service headquarters.
From Saturday morning officers started bringing suspect items out of the garage of the property.
Police said the 51-year-old man had not been charged and was instead bailed until 12 September pending further enquiries.
In a statement, a spokesperson for Greater Manchester Police said: “Searches have since been carried out at a property on Rothasay Road, Pendlebury, in connection with this incident where police have found a quantity of controlled substances.”
