Top 5 things to do in Salford this weekend


The weekend is upon us once more and the weather forecast is warm but overcast, but don’t let that stop you enjoying ourself, as we present our five most family fun events in Salford this weekend.

Ordsall Festival – Saturday 23 July – 12pm – 5pm

Traditional community festival with loads of free fun activities for the family. Bouncy castles, face painting, refreshments, games, sports and a live music stage.

Ordsall Dog Show from 1.30pm with a huge basket-full of doggy prizes for each category.

Charity Fun Day – Saturday 23 July – 10am – 3pm

Call in at Cleavelys athletic track off Blantyre Steeet, Winton for a day of fun which includes cakes, refreshments, face painting, raffle, stalls, and its all for charity in aid of Wheels for All and Salford Action for Autism, a splendid time is guaranteed for all.

Broughton Rugby Club Funday – Saturday 23 July – 1pm – 5pm

Broughton Rugby Union Club will be holding a funday on their ground at Yew Street, which will include, BBQ, face painting, hoopla, tombola, bouncy castle, music and a bar.

Saturday Playhouse, Lowry Theatre, Salford – Saturday 23 July – 11am – 12:30pm

Lookout its Saturday Playhouse is now a free and weekly art activity for children and their families in their dedicated Lookout space for families.

Each week they Lookout for what we can see both inside and outside, taking inspiration from our theatres, galleries and surrounding landscape at Salford Quays and MediaCityUK.

Dogs in Salford Festival – Sunday 24 July – 11:00 to 15:00

oin the dog wardens at Clifton Country Park on Sunday 24 July for this year’s Dogs in Salford Festival. Last year we hosted our very first festival which was a huge success in bringing awareness to mistreated dogs in Salford and raising money for Rochdale Dog Rescue. Starting from 11.00am and finishing at 3.00pm, this year’s festival will include a dog competition, agility course, free micro chipping, rescue stalls as well as fun activities including bouncy castles, face painting and balloon modelling.

The dog competition will consist of six categories costing £1 to enter each category. The categories are Waggiest Tail, Best Handler under 12 years old, Prettiest Girl, Handsome Boy, Best Scruff, Golden Oldie (for dogs seven years and older). The winners from each category will then be entered in to the best in show. Each winner will receive a rosette, certificate and a prize for the dog.
