NHS Salford Clinical Commissioning Group, which looks after health budgets and spending in Salford, has been rated ‘outstanding’ in new report by the NHS England.
It makes Salford only the second place in the country to have top ratings for both its flagship health trust and CCG.
Salford is also the first CCG in Greater Manchester to achieve the top rating.
It was recommended for strong leadership, involving and engaging patients in decisions and getting best value for money.
Inspectors also rated Salford Royal Hospital as ‘outstanding’ in March last year.
The CQC gave Salford’s A&E, medical care, and end of life care the highest possible rating.
Salford CCG is made up of GPs and health professionals.
Together they plan how to spend NHS budgets by commissioning services for people in Salford.
This includes care and treatment people receive in the community, mental health services and maternity.
