Police probe after 25-year-old man stabbed on Swinton street

Police are investigating in Swinton tonight after a 25-year-old man was found stabbed.

Officers were called to the A666 Bolton Road, near the junction with Mossfield Road, shortly after 4.30pm on Tuesday 26 July.

They found the 25-year-old being treated for a number of stab wounds to his arm and leg.

His injuries, while serious, are not considered to be a threat to his life, said police.

The victim is now recovering in hospital.

His attacker is being sought in the local area, police said.

Emergency services were initially called to the scene after reports of a suspected robbery ongoing at the nearby Stan James bookmakers.

This does not now appear to be the case.

It’s understood the man may have sought refuge in the store, or gone in to ask for help after being attacked.

Police said their enquiries were likely to be ongoing in the local area throughout Tuesday evening.

As of 5.30pm, part of Mossfield Road is currently closed off to drivers.

Anyone with any information is asked to call Greater Manchester Police on 101, or Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
