Station Road closed after man in 80s hurt in Swinton crash


An elderly driver has been taken to hospital after a crash on Station Road in Swinton this afternoon.

The three-car smash caused severe delays after police shut the busy road near B&M Bargains.

The man, who is in his 80s, complained of chest pains after the shunt at around 12.30pm on Friday 5 August.

He was taken to Salford Royal hospital for treatment but his injuries are at this stage not considered to be serious.

A white Mercedes C-Class, a grey Hyundai, and a Nissan Note were all involved in the accident, said police.

A second male driver and a female passenger also injuries to their head and neck in the crash. They were checked over at the scene by paramedics.

As of 1.45pm on Friday police were still on scene, between B&M Bargains and Swinton train station.

The road is now in the process of being re-opened.
