Businesses in Salford and across the region are being invited to take part in this year’s UKFast City of Salford 10K Corporate Challenge, and be crowned the fastest 10K company in the North West.
The challenge, which takes place on Sunday 4th September, is open to all businesses that wish to enter a team of three or more runners, with the first three runners counting towards the challenge itself.
The first team to cross the finish line will receive recognition as the champions of the UKFast City of Salford 10K and take home a trophy for their team. The winning team will also receive a special visit to their workplace from former world record holder, marathon runner Dr. Ron Hill MBE.
Leading cloud provider UKFast is the official title sponsor of this year’s race and CEO Lawrence Jones MBE is encouraging businesses to sign up to take part in the challenge.
Lawrence said: “We’re on a mission to get the region up and running and what better way than with a little friendly competition between colleagues and businesses. A team from UKFast is entering and we are looking forward to accepting the challenge from other companies from across the region.”
Kevin Harmer, UK Events and Sponsorship Manager, added: “The UKFast City of Salford 10K Corporate Challenge is a great way of raising awareness of health and wellbeing in the workplace as well as creating some friendly competition amongst local businesses! It’s also a fantastic opportunity for companies to raise money for their chosen charities.”
The UKFast City of Salford 10K, which welcomed more than 3,500 runners last year, starts outside the MediaCityUK piazza.
The route heads eastwards on closed roads along Broadway and follows a tour of Trafford Park before heading back across the MediaCityUK bridge, before finishing back at the MediaCityUK piazza.
The Christie, one of the largest cancer treatment centres in Europe, is the official charity partner. Runners are welcome to run in aid of their chosen charities.
