Barbara Keeley, MP for Worsley and Eccles South, recently visited the Veterans Garage project in Barton.
The Veterans Garage, located at City Airport in Barton, is a project run by brothers Dan and Jayson Redshaw. Barbara was invited to visit to find out more about the plans for the project at the former 1930’s built airport terminal building where the garage will be based.
The Veterans Garage project aims to provide support to military veterans from across the North West in an environment in which they are able to learn new skills and receive support and advice.
The new facility will also provide a venue to raise funds and awareness for local causes.
Recently it was announced that Veterans Garage will be working with the Criminal Justice System and the Manchester & Cheshire Probation Services to provide peer support, transitional advice and educational programmes.
Barbara Keeley said:
“It was good to meet Dan and Jayson Redshaw and members of the local volunteer team who are working hard to make the Veterans Garage a reality.
“It was great to hear how they plan to restore the Grade 2 listed airport terminal building at City Airport in Barton into a base for a classic car and motorcycle restoration garage.
“The new garage will provide a stable environment in which ex-servicemen and women will be able to come together to learn new skills and receive the help and support they are entitled to.
“This is a unique community project which will provide invaluable support to veterans from across the North West. I am happy to support the Veterans Garage project and look forward to working with them in the coming months.”
