Top 5 things to do in Salford this weekend


The wether forecast for the weekend isn’t that good with threats of rain, however this shouldn’t put you off attending one if not two of these special events we have chosen for you.

Salford Red Devils – Friday 19 August – 8pm kick off.

Salford Red Devils take on the mighty Hull K.R. in what is a must win match for the struggling Salford Red Devils, call in and get behind the team.

Charity Fundraiser – Saturday 20 August – 6pm – 11pm

Standing on the Shoulders of Giants is a fundraiser being held at Islington Mill, with top Salford rock band Blaney, and starring high energy gypsy jazz combo Walk Like Fool Does, plus some celtic arabic fusion sounds by Rubaiyat. There’s also going to be an art auction, a union awards ceremony, stalls plus food and a bar.

Free admission but please feel free to make a donation for this worthwhile cause.

Sponsored Charity Head Shave
– Sunday 21 August – 2pm – 4pm

Call in at the Albert Edward pub on Church Street and help a much needed charity whilst two regulars, Julie Yorke and her partner Nigel, have their heads and in Nigels case, beard and head shaved to raise money for 3 year old, Maya McDermott who is undergoing leukemia treatment.

They are trying to raise £1,000 for the charity and all donations are welcome so call in and give them a couple quid, and its a decent pint in there!

Autumn Fair – Sunday 18 September – 2pm -4pm

Heath Cottage Care Home, Station Road, Swinton are holding an Autumn Fair on Sunday 18th September 2016 at 2pm.
They are hoping to raise enough money to send their lovely residents on a trip out and towards having activities in the home.

Emergency Services Fun Day – Sunday 21 August – 10am – 5pm

A fun packed day for all the family at De La Salle playing fields, Lancaster Road in aod of Breast Cancer Charity.

Bouncy castles, Kool carts, singers, face painting, fire engine, tombola, refreshments and celebrity football.

£1 for a family ticket.
