Watch: Salford City College pupils open A-Level results live


Students at Salford City College’s Pendleton and Eccles Sixth Form Centres have hit the mark with another set of outstanding A-Level results.

A remarkable 99% of A-Level students passed their exams.

Thousands of teenagers across the city have been waiting nervously for the results to be announced today.

ITV Good Morning Britain filmed as students opened their scores live on air on Thursday 18 August.

One Salford City College high achiever was 18-year-old Emily Shaw.

The former St Patrick’s High School pupil joined the college two years ago with all A* at GCSE.

She has once again exceeded expectations by achieving A*, A*, A in her A-Level Biology, Geography and Chemistry.

She said, “I’m so relieved and happy that I’ve got into my first choice studying Medicine at the University of Liverpool!”

CEO and Principal of Salford City College, John Spindler said, “All of the staff are delighted with the incredible and record breaking A-Level results this year.

“Our students have a history of success at Salford City College, gained through their hard work, outstanding teaching and learning and the support that they get from home.

“It really is an honour to work with such talented young people and be able to lead such a successful College which ensures that students reach their full potential and have the opportunity to progress onto their first choice of university or employment.”

Salford City College is made up of five centres; Pendleton Sixth Form Centre, Eccles Centre, Walkden Centre, City Skills and its newest addition, FutureSkills @MediaCityUk.

In their last inspection in 2015 Ofsted gave Salford City College a ‘Good’ rating.
