Firecrews attend Duchy tyre fire for second time in four months

At 8.10pm on Tuesday, August 23, reports of a fire in Duchy Road, Salford, were made to North West Fire Control.

Black plumes of smoke could be seen all over Salford as the fire raged.

The fire involved a quantity of tyres on open land and two fire engines from Salford attended the incident and put out the fire using jets and a hose reel.

Firefighters were at the address for approximately one hour and 30 minutes.

A spokeswoman for Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service said no-one is understood to have been injured in the fire.

They believe the blaze last night was ‘started deliberately’.

This is the second significant tyre blaze within months at the same location, the last being in May 2016.
