Latest: Teenager, 18, charged with Wesley Lennon’s murder in Winton


Detectives investigating the murder of father-of-two Wesley Lennon in Winton have charged a teenager with stabbing him to death.

Adam Akhtar, 18, of Somerset Road in Salford was brought in for questioning on Thursday in the wake of Mr Lennon’s death.

Greater Manchester Police report today, Saturday 3 September, than Mr Akhtar has now been charged with murder.

He has been remanded in custody to appear at Manchester Magistrates court on Saturday morning.

Akhtar was the third teenager to be questioned after Wesley Lennon (formerly Wesley Barnard) was fatally wounded while trying to break up a street fight outside his cousin’s home on Cambrai Crescent in Winton.

A 16-year-old boy and a 19-year-old man originally arrested on suspicion of murder were bailed earlier this week.

Both are due to reappear before police on 21 September.

Shortly before 11.40pm on Monday 29 August 2016 police were called to a report of fighting on Cambrai Crescent in Winton, Eccles.

Officers attended and found a Wesley Lennon in a serious condition after having been stabbed in the chest.

He was taken to hospital where he sadly died.
