At around 10.30pm on Wednesday evening, a horde of police cars chased and boxed in a blue BMW being driven by two suspects, while Weaste residents watched in shock.
Up to six police vehicles, including armed units, gave chase on a 2016 BMW driving at speed through Salford.
The fleeing car was pursued by the low-flying police support helicopter and dog units, until the driver and his passenger were immobilised on Tootal Drive, near the junction with Meadowgate Road.
One Salford resident who wished to remain anonymous told how the police helicopter was “so low that it looked like it was almost touching the top of houses”, and “screeching as if it was going to crash”.
Another anonymous Weaste resident contacted SalfordOnline.com to detail how one of the men, in his 20s, was thrown to the ground and arrested at the scene.
The second suspect made off on foot towards Kennedy Road.
Greater Manchester Police has as of yet been unable to confirm any of the details, nor whether the second individual had been arrested.
At least one of the men is thought to be well known to police.
A statement is expected from Greater Manchester Police later today.
