At the end of their very eventful home game with Torpedo Chorlton that produced ten goals a disappointed Beechfield United Saturday Morning Senior Team had to settle for a 5-5 draw.
Prior to this Division One Fixture Manager Graham Rothwell was forced to make team changes and looking rather sluggish in the early stages Beechy found themselves a goal down but working hard in all areas of the pitch United found an equaliser in the twenty fourth minute via Max Leonard.
Following the goal Beechy were more composed and after getting a tighter grip on the contest were rewarded when Wesley Pierce gave United a 2-1 lead.
Taking that narrow one goal lead into the second half United were suddenly guilty of some poor defending and Torpedo Chorlton couldn’t believe their luck as they raced into a 4-2 lead.
Beechy produced a determined fightback and Max Leonard with his second goal of the game reduced the arrears before he missed from the penalty spot. But it quickly became 4-4 thanks a goal from Tim McQueeney and continuing to attack at every opportunity United appeared to have secured victory when Scott Foulds put Beechy 5-4 up.
United then conceded a free kick with about eight minutes remaining and Torpedo Chorlton’s central defender equalised with a headed goal.
