Body of missing Julie McClean found in Buile Hill Park


The body of a missing woman was discovered in Buile Hill Park in Salford, family have confirmed.

Police and paramedics were called to the southern end of Seedley Park, off Weaste Lane in Salford at around 9.40am on Saturday morning.

Emergency services remained on scene throughout Saturday.

No formal identification has taken place but the investigation is understood to relate to missing woman Julie McCLean.

Family have been informed.

Police said there were no suspicious circumstances.

The 57-year old from Clifton was reported missing after walking out of Salford Royal hospital following surgery at around 1.45pm on Tuesday 20 September.

She was last seen on hospital CCTV wearing a distinctive green ‘Sugar Puffs/Honey Monster’ T-shirt, a pink skirt and white tights.

Sister in law Rachael Paine posted on Facebook on Saturday morning: “Thank you to everyone who shared my posts about my sister in law Julie.

“We have just this minute heard from the police that she was found dead this morning at buille hill park.

“Thank you everyone for all your concern and support over the past few days x”

Friends of the family thanked everyone who had joined the search for Julie since she went missing.

In a statement Greater Manchester Police said: “Shortly before 9:40am on Saturday 24 September 2016, police were called to Buile Hill Park, Eccles Old Road to reports that the body of a woman had been found.

“There are believed to be no suspicious circumstances surrounding the death and a file will be passed to the coroner.”
