Appeal: Teenage biker killed in Salford smash


Police are appealing for witnesses to come forward after a 19-year-old man was killed in a crash in Salford.

The biker was riding along Leicester Road in Salford on Saturday evening at around 9.30pm when he apparently lost control and collided with metal railings at the junction with Granville Avenue.

He suffered serious injuries in the crash and sadly died at the scene.

He has not yet been formally identified.

No other vehicles were involved in the accident.

Constable Neil Pennington of Greater Manchester Police’s Serious Collision Investigation Unit said: “Firstly, our condolences go out to the family of the young man who sadly died as a result of this collision.

“We would like to ask anyone who may have seen something at the time to contact police and help us ascertain what happened.”
