Two Salford men charged after hate incident on city centre tram


Three people have been charged after a hate incident on a tram in Manchester City Centre and two assaults in Trafford.

Aaron Cauchi, 19 of Brydon Close, Salford, has been charged with two public order offences and assault.

Robert Molloy, 20 of no fixed address, has been charged with racially aggravated assault, two further assaults and a public order offence.

A 16-year-old from Pendleton, who cannot be named for legal reasons, has also been charged with two public order offences and assault.

All three have been bailed to appear at Manchester and Salford Magistrates’ Court on 8 November 2016.

At around 8.45am on Tuesday 28 June 2016 police were made aware of a video showing a hate incident on a tram travelling towards the city centre.

Police were also made aware of an assault later that day at Pomona Strand, Trafford and a further assault on Bridgewater Way, Trafford.
