A quick-thinking neighbour mananged to avert disaster by putting out a kitchen fire in a semi-detached house in Little Hulton.
Two fire crews from Farnworth and one from Atherton were called to Rigby Grove at around 1.45pm on Saturday afternoon.
A grill pan in the kitchen of the property had set alight while cooking and emergency crews were called, but a neighbour grabbed a dry powder fire extinguisher to douse the blaze before fire crews arrived.
Firefighters thanked the neighbour before ventilating the house to make sure the occupant was safe.
