Police swarm Salford precinct in hunt for car thief

Police have a man in handcuffs at Fitzwarren Street in Salford after chasing a suspected car thief.

Two marked cars and an unmarked police intercept BMW appeared on Salford precinct at around 3.30pm today, Wednesday 15 July, after a man reportedly dumped a stolen car near Lidl and ran off on foot.

Crowds of children on bikes gathered near the supermarket as officers sped to the scene and combed the nearby area for clues.

One eyewitness said: “At least four officers cuffed a shirtless man on the grass – not one was in uniform.

“There was a white mini-van there that looks like was in a chase.”
