Salford Mixed Martial Arts wants you in Weaste

A welcome addition to the sporting activities available in Salford are the Salford Mixed Martial Arts Academy who meet every Tuesday and Thursday at the St Luke’s Parish Hall, on Liverpool Street, Weaste.Run by trained coach Stephen Holmes the club is going from strength to strength with some 20 members aged from 4 – 11 all eager to learn new skills and techniques in kick boxing.

“I have been running the club since May last year and the kids really enjoy it,” said Stephen.

“Its a great way to teach them discipline, they learn about training, take part in competitions, make new friends and it also not only keeps them from hanging about on the proverbial street corners, but teaches them life skills.

“The kids really enjoy training and I can’t praise them highly enough, they are a great set of lads.

“We have entered competitions in Liverpool and Manchester where the boys are matched with other lads the same age and weight, and this week we are at the George Carnell Centre in Davyhulme.

“We are also interested in raising funds for the club, to purchase uniforms and travelling expenses, so if any company such as Tesco’s or Sainsburys would like us to do a sponsored bag pack we would be delighted to do it.”

So if you have a young one who may be interested in this, and it is for both boys and girls then contact Stephen on his Facebook page https://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=100005928405188&fref=ts

The club meet each Tuesday and Thursday between 6pm and 8pm and admission is £5.
